A study has been made of complexes ofchromium(III) and molybdenum(III) with the chelating ligand2-aminomethylpyridine (2-picolylamine). They are of the type Crpic33+, Crpic2(H2O)23+,and Mopic33+, inwhich pic is the ligand 2-picolylamine. Conductance measurements in methanoland nitromethane are in agreement with their structures as six-coordinatecomplexes. The magnetic moments were found to be in the vicinity of 3.7 B.M. inall oases, showing that the chromium(III) and manganese(III) atoms are spin-free.The following salts were prepared and studied : [Crpic3]2[SO4]3.3H2O,[Crpic3]Cl3.3H2O,[Crpic2(H2O)2]Br3, [Crpic2(H2O)2][ClO4]3,and [Mopic3][ClO4]3.3H2O.
