In this study, we demonstrate simplified equivalent circuit models toeffectively approximate responses of recently reported waveform-selectivemetasurfaces that distinguish different electromagnetic waves even at the samefrequency depending on their waveforms or pulse widths. Compared toconventional equivalent circuit models that represent behaviors of ordinarymetasurfaces in the "frequency" domain, the proposed models enable us toexplain how waveform-selective metasurfaces respond in the "time" domain. Ourapproach well estimates not only time constants of waveform-selectivemetasurfaces but also their entire time-domain responses. Particularly, thisstudy reports the importance of resistive components of diodes as well as thelimitation of our models with respect to the power dependence although stillthe models effectively work when waveform-selective mechanisms are clearlyexhibited with a sufficiently large input power. Thus, the idea of the proposedequivalent circuit models contributes not only to a greater understanding ofwaveform-selective mechanisms but also to facilitating the design process ofsuch unique structures.
