The response of dense quantum plasmas in the backward Raman scattering isstudied. The coefficients in the backward Raman scattering is found to beunderestimated (overestimated) in the classical theory if the excited Langmuirwave has low-wave vector (high-wave vector). The second order quantumperturbation theory shows that the second harmonic of the pondermotivepotential arises naturally even in a single particle motion contrary to theclassical plasmas.
