We present simulations on a binary blend of bead-spring polymer chains. Theintroduction of monomer size disparity yields very different relaxation timesfor each component of the blend. Competition between two different arrestmechanisms, namely bulk-like dynamics and confinement, leads to an anomalousrelaxation scenario for the fast component, characterized by sublinear timedependence for mean squared displacements, or logarithmic decay andconvex-to-concave crossover for density-density correlators. These anomalousdynamic features, which are observed over time intervals extending up to fourdecades, strongly resemble predictions of Mode Coupling Theory for nearbyhigher-order transitions. Chain connectivity extends anomalous relaxation overa wide range of blend compositions.Comment: Published in Journal of Chemical Physics 124 (2006) 18490
