Local control of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) remains low. The unfavorable prognosis of locally advanced and metastatic HNSCC is primarily due to the development of cancer stem cell (CSC) resistance to radio-chemo therapy. Disulfiram, known as ALDH inhibitor, is an approved anti-alcoholism drug which was recently reported to have broad and profound anti-cancer effects. Our research reveals the effects of disulfiram and its interaction with cisplatin and irradiation in HNSCC cell lines.
