In Europe the aquaculture of Siluroidei concern the native species Silurus glanis and some others recently introduced : Clarias gariepinus from Africa, Ictalurus punctatus, I. nebulosus and I. melas from North America. Production trials with the African species Heterobranchus longifilis and H. bidorsalis are mentioned. These Siluroidei are reared in various production systems : monoculture in (closed) thermoregulated systems, cages or ponds, or in pond polyculture. Clariids are most often grown out into recirculated-thermoregulated systems, but sometimes in outdoor ponds during summer. Ictalurids are reared intensively or semi-intensively in ponds. The European catfish, Silurus glanis is produced either in pond polyculture as predator fish, or in open systems with warm water (power plant effluent, geothermal water), less often in closed thermoregulated systems. In Europe, aquaculture of Siluroidei is not widespread and only a few countries practise it : Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Hungary, Czech Republic and the Netherlands. However, the production seems to be increasing : in France, for example, intensive production in ponds with still water or with water reused after effluent lagooning is beginning to develop. The impact on the environment is low, as are the production costs. / La production aquacole de Siluroidei en Europe concerne le silure glane (Silurus glanis), indigène, et des espèces introduites assez récemment, comme le silure africain (Clarias gariepinus) ou les poissons-chats américains tels que Ictalurus punctatus, I. nebulosus et I. melas. Quelques tentatives de production expérimentales d'Heterobranchus longifilis et H. bidorsalis sont aussi en cours. Les différentes espèces de Siluroidei sont produites dans des systèmes d'élevage variés, en monoculture dans les circuits en eau chaude, fermés ou non, en polyculture d'étang ou en systèmes intensifs en cages ou en bassins. Les Clariidés sont le plus souvent produits dans des circuits fermés thermorégulés du fait de leurs exigences vis à vis de la température, mais quelquefois en étang, lors de la saison chaude. Les Ictaluridés sont élevés en étang en conditions intensives ou semi-intensives. Le silure glane est produit soit en polyculture d'étang comme carnassier d'accompagnement, soit en eau chaude (effluents thermiques ou sources géothermiques), les circuits fermés thermorégulés étant de plus en plus abandonnés. En France, particulièrement, des systèmes de production intensive en bassins sans renouvellement d'eau ou avec lagunage des effluents tendent à se développer ; les coûts de production y sont relativement bas et les rejets dans l'environnnement quasi-inexistants
