It has been reported previously that polymeric phosphates of phloretin and related compounds are potent inhibitors of several enzymes including alkaline phosphatase and hyaluronidase (Diczfalusy et al. 1953). Preliminary studies suggested that a similar inhibition of acid phosphatases may also take place (Diczfalusy et al. 1953). This paper reports on the kinetics of human seminal acid phosphatase with special emphasis on the inhibition of this enzyme by different polymeric phosphates and other macromolecular compounds.
