Synchronisation is a collective phenomenon widely investigated in classicaloscillators and, more recently, in quantum systems. However, it remains unclearwhat features distinguish synchronous behaviour in these two scenarios. Recentworks have shown that investigating the dynamics of synchronisation in openquantum systems can give insight into this issue. Here we study transientsynchronisation in a bio-inspired vibronic dimer, where the dynamics ofelectronic excitation is mediated by coherent interactions with intramolecularvibrational modes. We show that the synchronisation dynamics of thedisplacement of these local modes exhibit a rich behaviour which arisesdirectly from the distinct time-evolutions of different vibronic quantumcoherences. Furthermore, our study shows that coherent energy transport in thisbio-inspired system is concomitant with the emergence of positivesynchronisation between mode displacements. Our work provides furtherunderstanding of the relations between quantum coherence and synchronisation inopen quantum systems and suggests an interesting role for coherence inbiomolecules, that is promoting the synchronisation of vibrational motionsdriven out of thermal equilibrium.
