We combine experiment and theory to investigate the diffusive andsubdiffusive dynamics of paramagnetic colloids driven above a two-stateflashing potential. The magnetic potential was realized by periodicallymodulating the stray field of a magnetic bubble lattice in a uniaxial ferritegarnet film. At large amplitudes of the driving field, the dynamics ofparticles resembles an ordinary random walk with a frequency-dependentdiffusion coefficient. However, subdiffusive and oscillatory dynamics at shorttime scales is observed when decreasing the amplitude. We present a persistentrandom walk model to elucidate the underlying mechanism of motion, and performnumerical simulations to demonstrate that the anomalous motion originates fromthe dynamic disorder in the structure of the magnetic lattice, induced byslightly irregular shape of bubbles.
