The moir\'e engineering of two-dimensional magnets opens unprecedentedopportunities to design novel magnetic states with promises for spintronicdevice applications. The possibility of stabilizing skyrmions in thesematerials without chiral spin-orbit couplings or dipolar interactions is yet tobe explored. Here, we investigate the formation and control of ground statetopological spin textures (TSTs) in moir\'e CrI3 using stochasticLandau-Lifshitz-Gilbert simulations. We unveil the emergence of interlayervortex and antivortex Heisenberg exchange fields, stabilizing spontaneous andfield-assisted ground state TSTs with various topologies. The developed studyaccounts for the full bilayer spin dynamics, thermal fluctuations, andintrinsic spin-orbit couplings. By examining the effect of the Kitaevinteraction and the next nearest-neighbor Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, wepropose the latter as the unique spin-orbit coupling mechanism compatible withexperiments on monolayer and twisted CrI3. Our findings contribute to thecurrent knowledge about moir\'e skyrmionics and uncover the nature ofspin-orbit coupling in CrI3.
