The chemical reactions responsible for the change in bitumen properties and phosphorylation acid (PPA) in particular, were investigated. Four bitumen model compounds with various oxygenated functional groups were heated with PPA in conditions typical of those used to prepare PPA-modified bitumens: bisphenol A (phenol), butyl phenyl ether (ether), acetophenone (ketone), and benzoic acid (carboxylic acid). The reactions were examined by thin-layer chromatography and infrared spectroscopy.Nous avons examin\ue9 les r\ue9actions chimiques auxquelles est attribuable le changement dans les propri\ue9t\ue9s du bitume, plus particuli\ue8rement en ce qui a trait \ue0 l?acide de phosphorylation (PPA).
