Objective: To explore relationships between total antioxidant gap and lipid peroxidation\udwith respect to the disease severity of Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which may have further\udimplications in understanding rheumatoid pathology and therapeutic management of the\uddisease. Method: The present of study was designed to investigate the relationship between\udantioxidant gap and certain antioxidant parameters with disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis\udpatients. A significantly increased lipid peroxidation, measured as malondialdehyde (MDA), was\uddemonstrated in the plasma of rheumatoid arthritis patients. Results: MDA was observed in RA\udpatients (0.98暲0.34 毺 mol/L) than those found in controls (0.98暲0.34 毺 mol/L). The antioxidant gap was\udsignificantly decreased. total antioxidant gap (0.34暲0.14 mmol/L) and total antioxidant capacity (1.34\ud暲0.16 mmol/L) were significantly lower in RA patients as compared to healthy controls (0.76暲0.33\udand 1.78暲0.35 mmol/Lrespectivel).
