In a magnetic shape memory alloy system, we vary composition followingphenomenological arguments to tune macroscopic properties. We achievesignificantly higher shift in austenite to martensitic phase transitiontemperature with magnetic field. This enhancement is accompanied by significantbroadening of the transition and by field-induced arrest of kinetics, both ofwhich are related to the dynamics of the coexisting phases. This revealshitherto unknown interrelationship between different length-scales. This mayserve as an effective route for comprehensive understanding of similarmulticomponent systems which show considerable variation in physical propertiesby minor change in microscopic parameters.
