ince reform and opening-up, the water transport industry in China has been developed rapidly. But the significant environmental problems are increasingly followed. This paper analyzes the impact on the environment during the time of water transport engineering constructions and operations, and also introduces the damage to the environment which is caused by the emergent shipping accidents. From the standpoint of reducing environmental pollution and avoiding ecological destruction, combined with the influence of water transport and the damage of shipping emergent accidents on environment, some corresponding suggestions about environmental protection are proposed
