In this article the impact of various load models on optimal allocation of D-STATCOM is obtained by DNO for radial distribution system with an objective of power loss reduction with enhancement of voltage profile and overall energy saving. The key contributions of the paper are: (i) Finding optimal size of D-STATCOM for handling various types of load models (ii) Study the impact of various types of load on active as well as reactive power losses, (iii) Comparison of minimum voltage levels with D-STATCOM for various load models. Based on the reduction in the power losses, the energy savings have been determined. The proposed technique is tested for steady state analysis with D-STATCOM placement in IEEE 33-bus radial delivery network. Results demonstrate the significant diminution in losses and enhancement in voltage profile.
