By using a Regge-pole model for vector meson production (VMP), successfullydescribing the HERA data, we analyse the correlation between VMP cross sectionsin photon-induced reactions at HERA and those in ultra-peripheral collisions atthe Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The rapidity distributions of proton-protoncollisions at 13~TeV and lead-lead collisions at 2.76 and 5.02 TeV areinvestigated. The transverse momentum distribution in nuclear coherent vectormeson production is also addressed. Predictions for future experiments onproduction of $J/\psi$ and $\psi(2S)$ are presented.
