In this study, the linear, third-order nonlinear and total refractive index(RI) changes of multi-layered quantum dot (MLQD) and multi-layered quantumanti-dot (MLQAD) with a hydrogenic impurity are calculated. Our numericalresults indicate that the RI changes are considerably sensitive to thegeometrical parameters of systems and the incident optical intensity. It isobserved that by changing the incident photon energy, the RI curvescorresponding to MLQAD and MLQD are considerably different in shapes andbehaviors. Generally, our results show that MLQAD models have very higher RIsthan MLQD models.
