We present an updated version of the {\it SimProp} Monte Carlo code to studythe propagation of ultra high energy cosmic rays in astrophysical backgroundscomputing the cosmogenic neutrino fluxes expected on earth. The study ofsecondary neutrinos provides a powerful tool to constrain the source models ofthese extremely energetic particles. We will show how the newly detectedIceCube neutrino events at PeV energies together with the the latestexperimental results of the Pierre Auger Observatory and Telescope Arrayexperiment are almost at the level of excluding several hypothesis on theastrophysical sources of ultra high energy cosmic rays. Results presented herecan be also used to evaluate the discovery capabilities of future high energycosmic rays and neutrino detectors.
