The CO2 storage efficiency factor is an important term for calculating the amount of CO2 storage in deep saline formations. This study investigates the potential effects of formation parameters and injection schemes on the storage capacity calculations and the relationship between the storage efficiency factor and the key parameters for the injection of CO2 in closed saline formations, using numerical simulations. In this paper, we evaluated the CO2 storage efficiency factors for a 3D hypothetical reservoir system. The studied parameters include the size of storage domain, heterogeneity of formation permeability, porosity, compressibility. Influence of different well designs and injection schemes on the storage efficiency factor has also been investigated. This work may help in identifying the key factors for increasing the storage efficiency factor
