This article is intended to recognize and the life time contribution that Dr. Viswanathan Natarajan has made to the advancement of lipid metabolism and lipid signaling. In particular, his major contributions in the last three decades have been made in understanding how lipids such as phosphatidic acid, lysophosphatidic acid, sphingosine 1-phosphate and cardiolipin contribute to healthy lung functions and to a variety of lung pathologies.
