We investigate the field equations in the Einstein-aether theory for staticspherically symmetric spacetimes and a perfect fluid source and subsequentlywith the addition of a scalar field (with an exponential self-interactingpotential). We introduce more appropriate dynamical variables that facilitatethe study of the equilibrium points of the resulting dynamical system and, inaddition, we discuss the dynamics at infinity. We study the qualitativeproperties of the models with a particular interest in their asymptoticbehaviour and whether they admit singularities. We also present a number of newsolutions.
