Malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), previously termed leiomyosarcomas or epithelioid leiomyosarcomas, are known to show wide variability in their malignancy. We evaluated the clinicopathological features of a large number of primary malignant gastric GISTs to clarify which features were independent prognostic factors.
