The effective quark Lagrangian is derived from the QCD action by means ofaveraging over the vacuum fields. In the limit of large N_c and keeping forsimplicity the lowest order gluonic correlator one obtains nonlinear equationsfor the quark propagator, exhibiting scalar confinement.
