Mice with inactivated tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and lymphotoxin α (LTα) genes have profound abnormalities of the immune system including lymphocytosis, lack of lymph nodes, undifferentiated spleen, hypoimmunoglobulinaemia, and defective Ig class switch.
