Summary For diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism the Calciuminfusiontest of Kyle in the modification of Haas and the Phosphateinfusionstest of Hyde were used. The clinical application of the tests is limited as the function of the parathyroids is investigated on an organ—the kidney—which is afflicted itself in 70 to 80 per cent of the cases. The investigations give evidence that the conception of parathormonaction on the kidneys can be confirmed. They show that they are not more efficient in the diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism than other laboratory investigations and bone biopsy. The diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism could be established in every case without the tests, which showed partly false results. For clinical use the tests are not recommended. Their scientific value is confirmed.
