This paper presents a strategy for combining the results of image classication and image segmentation. The visual features used for classication and segmentation may be dieren t in general. Fusion is performed in a Maximum Likelihood framework using the Expecta- tion Maximization algorithm. Preliminary results show that segmenta- tion may eectiv ely contribute to increase the quality of classication.
