Collaborative robots could transform several industries, such asmanufacturing and healthcare, but they present a significant challenge toverification. The complex nature of their working environment necessitatestesting in realistic detail under a broad range of circumstances. We proposethe use of Coverage-Driven Verification (CDV) to meet this challenge. Byautomating the simulation-based testing process as far as possible, CDVprovides an efficient route to coverage closure. We discuss the need, practicalconsiderations, and potential benefits of transferring this approach frommicroelectronic design verification to the field of human-robot interaction. Wedemonstrate the validity and feasibility of the proposed approach byconstructing a custom CDV testbench and applying it to the verification of anobject handover task.
