Modern formulations of equivalence principles provide the foundation for anefficient approach to understanding and organizing the structural features ofgravitation field theories. Since theories' predictions reflect differences intheir structures, principles of equivalence also support an efficientexperimental strategy for testing gravitation theories and for exploring therange of conceivable gravitation physics. These principles focus attentionsquarely on empirical consequences of the fundamental structural differencesthat distinguish one gravitation theory from another.
