The effects of discrete macroion surface charge distribution and valences ofthese surface charges and counterions on charge reversal have been studied formacroions of three different geometries and compared with those of continuoussurface charge distributions. The geometry of the macroion has been observed toplay an important role in overcharging in these cases. The interplay ofvalences of discrete microions and counterions have noticeable effects onovercharging efficiency. For some valence combinations overcharging themacroion with discrete surface charge is seen to be more efficient than thosewith continuous charge distribution. The calculations have been performed usinga previously developed energy minimization simulation technique. For comparisonpurposes the corresponding continuous charge distribution cases together withan analytical model derived from modified Scatchard approach (for continuouscharge distribution) have been evaluated.
