The associational studies between periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis are less documented, although they are found to have similar inflammatory pathogenesis. Resistin, a novel adipokine is suggested to be a common link between periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis. The aim of the present study was to reinforce the inter-relationship between periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis by using resistin as a potent inflammatory marker.
