STUDY OF RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PARTNER PHUBBING, ATTACHMENT AND PERCEIVED ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP QUALITY IN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Partner Phubbing, which we encounter in romantic relationships, is a concept that has a disrupting effect on the communication of couples. This study has two purposes. The first is to adapt the Partner Phubbing Scale developed by Roberts and David (2016) to Turkish. The second is the study of relationships between partner phubbing, adult attachment, and perceived romantic relationship quality. The sample of the first study consists of a total of 191 students, 134 females (%70,2) and 57 males (%29,8), between the ages of 18-25 who continue their education in various universities in Istanbul. The sample of the second study consists of 50 volunteer couples between the ages of 18 and 25 who continue their education at various universities in Turkey and have a romantic relationship. As a result of factor analysis the revealed that adapted scale is unidimensional and a total of 6 items. The Cronbach’s Alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale was .85, test retest correlation was .82. According to the findings of the second study; The moderator effect of gender and attachment dimensions (anxiety and avoidance) on the effect of PPS on ARIKÖ was found to be significant only in cases with high avoidance scores in males (ß = -.45, p <.00). As a result, the PPS, which was carried out in an adaptation study to Turkish, is a valid and reliable scale according to the results of the sample group.
