Heritage, as a concept and disciplinary field, undergoes conceptual expansions, aimed to overcome the conservation-development dichotomy, in two perspectives: spatial, by embracing scales beyond the object’s scale; and temporal, for inserting the procedural perspective of the territory as a social construction. Heritage enlarged to a territorial scale requires research methods that go through architecture and approach the field of Geography. As a potential method, the Territorialist Information Systems are presented, reviewing base data from the Atlas of Territorial Heritage, in order to compose a diachronic-evolutionary framework, showing processes of dissipation and maintenance of heritage in João Neiva – Espírito Santo.
