Communication between water utilities and their stakeholders can always improve, but there are particularly notable issues in messaging with both the general public and media organizations. A deeper understanding of a community's water resources and the vital functions its water systems provide can strengthen support for the ongoing investments they require. But when the public must contend with other more prominent, immediate, and sometimes shocking news, is fear becoming a “contaminant” of emerging concern (CEC) for water utilities to address?
