In November 2014 the Diversity & Member Inclusion Committee held its annual in‐person fall meeting at AWWA headquarters in Denver, Colo. During the meeting, the committee set aside the better part of a day that was devoted to learning more about diversity and inclusion. Each year the committee invites a professional whose sole work is fostering diversity and inclusion to come speak with us, teach us, coach us, and make us better at the role that our committee membership requires. This year our teacher, coach, and mentor was Jody Alyn. For over 20 years, Jody has worked with corporations, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and government organizations to help them achieve their bottom‐line potential through the implementation of inclusive strategies and dynamic cultural‐change practices. Her real‐world solutions are a guide for implementing positive strategies and taking practical steps toward positive business practices through diversity and inclusion.
