The incidence and prevalence of respiratory diseases in the Australian Morbidity Survey, 1969‐ 1970, are compared with those obtained from the 1962‐1963 survey. Over all, the similarities in the two surveys are more striking than the differences. The main differences in the 1969‐1970 survey findings are an overall reduction in the number of attendances per episode of disease, but an increased attendance rate for chronic bronchitis. The age, sex and seasonal distributions of respiratory diseases are similar in both surveys. Information about the geographical distribution of respiratory diseases between States and therapeutic information related to the prescribing of antibiotics, which was not available from the 1962‐1963 survey, is reported.
