A case is described of Fanconi's cytopenia associated with thrombocytopenia, skin pigmentation and leucoderma, microcephaly, narrow palpebral fissures, abnormal thumb with absent scaphoid and hypoplastic first metacarpal, impalpable radial artery, and single pelvic kidney with renal artery stenosis and hypertension. A paternal uncle of the patient had died of leukaemia. One sibling without obvious congenital anomalies had slightly lowered platelet counts. The unusual features were renal artery stenosis to a solitary kidney, thrombocytopenia alone at the time of initial presentation and normal levels of alkali‐resistant haemoglobin. This is the first report of renal artery stenosis in Fanconl's anaemia or cytopenia, and only the third reported case of stenosis of the artery to a solitary kidney. The stenosis was corrected by a renal to right‐common‐iliac artery anastomosis, with return of the blood pressure to normal levels.
