The chapters number 13, and the topics dealt with are rascinattng indeed. Pharmacologically active substances in the central nervous system, psychotropic drugs, catecholamines and 5-hydroxytryptamine start off the book, and then discussions of anti-diabetic drugs, diuretics, the newer steroids, cholesterol and hypotensive drugs fill another hundred pages, the whole being rounded off with some modern considerations of chemotherapy and a discussion of sedatives, analgesics and antitussive drugs. Each chapter has, as previously, a full bibliography and is adequately and clearly illustrated with diagrams and tables.
