AUSTRALIAN PHYSIOTHERAPY ASSOCIATION

The congresswas openedby His Excellency the Governor, Sir CharlesGairdner, the Patron of the WesternAustralian Branch. The FederalPresidentof the Association,Dr. W. N. Gilmour, welcomed the visitors to the congressand asked them to criticize freely, as criticism led to improvement. He stressedthe importance of orthodoxy with its use of proved methods and constant effort to improve those methods. Heterodoxyhe defined as the using of new, untried methodswithout due careand consideration. He emphasized the importanceof a high ethical standard,and pointed out that the community enjoyedsecurity through the knowledge that physiotherapistshad a safe standardof treatmentand conrormlty to ethics.
