This paper presents an analysis of some relevant aspects of female prison security officers in order to understand the interaction between the prison as an institution and its officers. The perspective adopted is the officer’s. Ten female prison security officers was interviewed during the research and the diversity of post job regions allowed an identification of some issues about this profession that are living in common by all of them
