Octavio Paz analyzed painting from the perspective of a poet. Like his artistic mentor Charles Baudelaire, Paz had two very difficult characteristics to find: he was a poet and a keen art critic. In this article the author discusses Octavio Paz’s relationship between poetry and the visual arts and his role as art editor for the magazines Plural (1971-1976) and Vuelta (1976-1998).
