The article shows the importance of insolation standards for residential premises, which are reflected in the current construction and regulatory framework of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As a result of this study, the spatial planning solutions of residential complexes in the city of Nur-Sultan were analyzed, during which the types and levels of shadows affecting direct solar irradiation of premises and territories were established. Based on the analysis, architectural methods that increase the level of indoor insolation are proposed.
