The aim of this article is to expose the ways of recognizing potentials for development in the following selected protected areas: Triglav National Park (TNP), Goričko Landscape Park (KPG) and Logarska dolina Landscape Park (KPLD). Basing our results on a survey, which was carried out among locals and tourists, we found out that the ways in which people see potentials for development differ. On the basis of their answers and our analysis of the actual state we established certain potentials for development, which are in compliance with the following principles: they result from the local sources, are in compliance with the applicable legislation and are sustainable
