/ short description The article brings up the universal idea that interpretations of historical events change in the course of history. The examples presented here are related to Latin American and Soviet history. One of such examples is the Marxists reading of the the important historic figure Simon Bolivar. In the original writings of Karl Marx, Bolivar was regarded as a Bonaparte-like despot. Later Marxists revised this critical portrayal claiming that Marx was badly informed, and Bolivar's anti-colonialism can be understood as compatible with the principles of Marxism.
