The Centre for Muslim States and Societies, in collaboration with theAustralian Institute of InternationalAffairs (WesternAustralia Branch), heldthe Fulbright International Symposium at the University ofWestern Australia,Perth, on 1-3 August 2007. Associate Professor Samina Yasmeen (symposiumconvenor) welcomed the participants, and Professor Allan Robson(vice chancellor, University ofWesternAustralia) formally opened the event.The symposium’s objective was to explore complex socioeconomic,religio-cultural, and political factors involved in contributing to a sense ofinclusion or exclusion on the part of minorityMuslim communities living intheWest.
