A process of designing of water-protective zones and riparian protective stripes for rivers with non-linear bed has been considered with a part of the Ob River within the city boundaries of Barnaul as a study case. The necessity of taking into account water bodies’ specific character, natural and economic features of their riparian territories has been demonstrated. Directions of compensation of the difficulties in the water-protective legislation practical application have been proposed.
