The paper shows the mechanism of closing gap formation as a result of a hydro/dynamic accident at industrial aggradational water work facilities on the basis of the calculations made by the authors in the process of development of “Calculations of probable hard that might be done to lives and health of individuals, property of individuals and legal entities as a result of an accident at water work facilities” for two installations, namely the Kachkanar Mining Works tals-dump and “BAZ-SUAL” Bogoslovsk Aluminum Plant sludge-dump # 2. When comparing the outputs of calculations it was stated that closing gap formation was to happen in 3 stages, due to this fact the calculation of the closing gap formation was to be done according to a certain algorithm. Four positions that influence the closing gap formation and that are to be reaffirmed during the further study of hydro/dynamic accident progressing mechanism have been also revealed.
