This paper is an attempt at drawing attention to the role played by remarkableauthors of the interwar period in creating the national language. It discussesselected statements of artists such as J. Tuwim, T. Boy-Żeleński, J. Przyboś,S. Żeromski, B. Jasieński, J. Kurek, and T. Peiper, for whom language is notonly a literary material but also an object of studies and refl ection expresseddirectly, in separate quasi-linguistic texts. This served the purpose of exhibitingthe methods of giving consideration to linguistic issues by non-linguists.
