The article considers the application of mediation in resolving disputes arising from family legal relations. The article provides statistical data on the practice of resolving family disputes by courts, which indicates that the institution of mediation is still not in sufficient demand in Russia. The reasons for rare access to mediators are revealed. The authors suggest promising ways to solve the problems identified in this study.
