This study aims to determine the effect of the Connected Mathematics Project (CMP) learning model on the concept understanding ability of SMP N 11 Bengkulu City students. This type of research is the type of research is experimental research with quasi experimental. This research was conducted in SMP Negeri 11 Bengkulu City in odd semester 2019/2020 with a population of all classes VIII and the sample in this study were as many as 2 classes with a total of 48 students, the class chosen was VIII. G totaling 24 students as an experimental class and class VIII.H totaling 24 students as a control class. Research data were analyzed using Ancova test. The results showed that there was an influence of the ability to understand concepts between students being taught with the Connected Mathematics Project and conventional learning models after controlling students' initial abilities by 66.80%. There is a linear effect of the covariate's initial ability of concept understanding to the students' final ability of understanding the concepts that follow the learning of the CMP model, by 55.60%. CMP learning models are better than those taught through conventional learning with a significant 0.0000 <0.05
