The author concentrates on the research performed by A. KaweckaGryczowa on the life and activities of Daniel Vetter (1592 – c. 1669), who earned fame by travelling to Iceland (1613) and publishing a report from the journey (first published in Polish in Leszno in 1638). Professor Kawecka-Gryczowa’s findings were published in her article ‘Leszno – ośrodek wydawniczy Jednoty’ (Leszno: A Printing Centre of the Jednota), which appeared in the periodical „Odrodzenie i Reformacja” in 1964; the same article was reprinted in her collected papers: Z dziejów polskiej książki w okresie Renesansu. Studia i materiały (Studies and Materials on the History of the Polish Book during the Renaissance). This article was the first attempt at a monographic approach towards the activities of the Leszno printing shop by a Polish scholar, moreover it encompassed a list of the printed materialsstemming from Leszno. Kawecka-Gryczowa devoted a lot of attention to the person of Daniel Vetter, who directed the aforementioned printing house during the years 1632–1656, basing on his biography and typographical achievements.
